Gray #50A, 5 cent manual prepay payphone or paystation. This is the second and rarest version of the 50A paystation ca 1916. the upper and backboard are cast iron, the lower is steel but it is different from the type used on the later models such as the 50G. There is no dial cup cut in the upper housing because it was made before the dial was available. The coin relay in this phone is the oldest and only one know to exist. Very early self locking 1A coin box. The lower lock is an 11A and the upper housing lock is an E10E. View my article Gray/WE 50A #2
